A George II Period Mahogany Concertina Action Card Table in the Manner of Giles Grendey

Reference 1043

English, ca. 1750

This concertina action car table has all four of its legs carved with a stylised acanthus leaves terminating into scrolls to the left and right of the top of the leafs. Opened up the table reveals a perfectly square playing surface lined with a blue tooled antique linen.

This well drawn table has aged down over the years to a soft and mellow patina, the simplicity of its design and the outstanding colour throughout do really set this table apart as a rare survival of georgian furniture.
